Digital Mixed Media 1 DIGITAL ART AND MIXED MEDIA CCTE (575405) 6th Period
Grades 11-12 (College credit available if a grade of “B” or better is earned.)
TO TAKE AS ROP, STUDENT MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD WHEN CLASS BEGINS. THIS COURSE IS RECOMMENDED FOR ALL STUDENTS PURSUING CAREERS IN DRAWING, PAINTING, DESIGN, MIXED MEDIA, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND WEB PAGE DESIGN.
This course is intended to act as a capstone class in the arts. Students pursuing an interest in Drawing, Painting, Design, Mixed Media or Photography should take Digital Art & Mixed Media in their 11th and 12th grade as a part of their Arts career path. This course provides entry-level and intermediate training in the field of digital art and mixed media. Instruction covers design principles and concepts, as well as creation of art for commercial or personal self-promotional purposes. Students learn business practices in relation to art galleries and shows. Students are not required to furnish their own Digital Camera, unless they wish to work from home.
Course Rules: Camera strap must be around your neck when you are in possession of digital camera. All food and drink is a hazard and should not be consumed while operating any equipment including computers. No cell phone usage during class, and IPod usage is not permitted during class discussion. A reflection is required to receive a full grade. No visitors or leaving class without permission, and you must check in and out on clipboard. Removing any equipment or private property that does not belong to you is against the law and all violations will be reported to the SD police department. SD police will not investigate cell phone or IPod theft, so if you bring it to school you are at risk. Use of the computers for anything other than course work is not permitted, and you will be asked to move if you are using it for none class related activities.
Supplies: Flash Drive is recommended. A external drive is provided, however if a student wishes to maintain control over their images I suggest they save all of their work on a external drive. If students are series about taking pictures outside of school they will need their own digital camera.
